Job Title: Antibody Purification Scientist

Location: M4 Corridor, Berkshire

Schedule: Permanent, Full Time

TalentSource Life Sciences is currently searching for an experienced Antibody Purification Scientist to join one of our biotechnology partner companies in the UK. This is a permanent, office based position along the M4 corridor in Berkshire.

The successful candidate will be working on studies dedicated to one client .

The Antibody Purification Scientist will join a high-performing team responsible for production of antibody proteins to support all research activities. There will be a focus on platform approaches for the purification and analysis of mammalian expressed antibodies in a variety of species, isotypes and formats. As such, we are looking for a skilled protein biochemist with experience in antibody purification, quantification, quality and purity analysis.

Job specific tasks and responsibilities

• Purification of antibody, antibody fragment and novel antibody format biologicals from transient mammalian expression platforms, including CHO and HEK, according to agreed timelines
• Perform automated medium to high throughput antibody purification and analytical assays, and to understand/interpret data to support research project progression and antibody discovery
• Experience running AKTA/Unicorn purification systems and UPLC/Empower and/or HPLC/Chemstations analytical systems
• Purification of antibody, antibody fragment and novel antibody format biologicals from transient mammalian expression platforms, including CHO and HEK, according to agreed timelines
• Perform automated medium to high throughput antibody purification and analytical assays, and to understand/interpret data to support research project progression and antibody discovery
• Aid in the identification, testing and transfer of new methods/technologies in the field of protein chromatography
• Identify purification and antibody quality abnormalities, alert stakeholders with observations and consider possible solutions
• Willing and ready to learn new antibody purification techniques and/or refine those already acquired
• Maintain diligent record keeping of experimental methods and results via electronic laboratory notebooks and online registration system

Education, Qualifications & Experience

• BSc or MSc in Life Sciences field, plus a good level of laboratory experience using relevant techniques
• Experience running AKTA/Unicorn purification systems and UPLC/Empower and/or HPLC/Chemstations analytical systems

Skills & Knowledge

• Competence in a range of protein characterisation techniques including: Analytical SEC, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and UV-Vis spectroscopy
• Experience of mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques would be beneficial.
• Must have a flexible and professional attitude with a willingness to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• Good presentation, communication and data sharing skills in one-to-one and team meetings
• Ability to organise and maintain lab equipment to high standards, including maintenance and cleaning
• Able to work effectively and manage time to work on multiple projects.
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams
